SGA 2nd Chess Competition

On June 3rd, the second Chess Competition was successfully held at SGA. 66 players from different grades gathered at our sports stadium to engage in an intellectually stimulating competition.

SGA has a flourishing chess culture. We not only offer chess classes in ASA but also actively encourage students to participate in chess competitions. More than 30 students have earned medals and trophies in provincial and municipal chess competitions, while over 60 students have obtained certification from the Chinese Chess Association.

Our School Director Ms. Luka Liu and Head of School Mr. Tom Kline attended the event and delivered their opening speeches. Ms. Luka Liu encouraged the players to not only focus on winning the competition but also value the opportunities for friendship and cooperation, and to fully enjoy the pleasure of the oldest strategic game. Mr. Tom Kline expressed his admiration for the players and wished them the best performance in the competition.

Throughout the competition, the young players remained seated, focused, and composed in front of the chessboard. With each chess piece they lifted, every moment of thoughtful consideration, and every move they made, a strategic competition unfolded on the 64-square checkerboard.

After the intense battles, we held an award ceremony to honor the players. Congratulations to all of them for their outstanding performances and achievements!
