秋高气爽，瓜果飘香。深外湾区学校的校园里洋溢着浓浓的节日气氛，身着各国传统服饰的师生及家长穿梭在美丽的校园，空气中弥漫着淡淡的花香与烹制美味的香气！

Teachers, students and parents from SGA dressed in traditional costumes from various countries walked around the beautiful campus yesterday. The air was filled with a faint fragrance of flowers and a delicious aroma of cooking!

昨天，是深外湾区学校联合国日暨全球美食嘉年华活动。联合国寄托着全世界人民对美好生活的向往，联合国也在维护世界和平、改善贫困、消除饥饿中发挥着重要且积极的作用。湾区学校的孩子们胸怀全球公民意识，在联合国日到来之际，关注全球问题，倡导节约粮食，践行联合国所倡导的可持续发展精神。

Yesterday was SGA UN Day & Food Festival. The United Nations embodies the aspirations of people all over the world for a better life. The United Nations also plays an important and active role in maintaining world peace, alleviating poverty, and eradicating hunger.

SGA students pay attention to global issues, advocate food conservation, and practice the spirit of sustainable development advocated by the United Nations.

色香味俱佳的七大洲美食、主题游戏摊位的欢声笑语、舞台上优美动听的歌声……湾区学校的师生们以文化融合的独特方式庆祝联合国的生日。

The delicious food from the seven continents, the laughter from the SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) booths, and the beautiful singing on the stage... The teachers and students of SGA celebrated the birthday of the United Nations in a unique way of cultural integration.

刘佳校长为开幕仪式致辞。她提到：“实现“零饥饿”是联合国制定的17个全球发展目标中的其中之一。习近平主席出席第76届联大一般性辩论时郑重提出“全球发展倡议”，呼吁国际社会加快落实2030年可持续发展议程，推动实现更加强劲、绿色、健康的全球发展，构建全球发展共同体。我们希望在全校范围内发起倡议，做节约粮食的宣传员和践行者。”

School Director Ms. Luka Liu delivered a speech. Achieving “zero hunger” is one of the 17 global development goals set by the United Nations.As the international development cause stands at a crossroads, President Xi Jinping solemnly proposed the Global Development Initiative at the General Debate of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. He called on the international community to accelerate implementation of the 2030 SDGs for more robust, greener and more balanced global development, and foster a global community of development with a shared future.We hope to initiate an initiative throughout the school on being publicists and practitioners of food conservation. 

五年级的学生为我们带来了一段发生在非洲的真实故事，当故事中的小男孩Oumar正在遭受饥饿的时候，世界上的其他国家是如何对待食物的呢？粒粒盘中餐，皆是辛苦换。中华民族自古就有“勤以修身，俭以养德”的传统美德，一粥一饭当思来之不易，一丝一缕恒念物力维艰。联合国日活动的全部收入也将用于学校拟建农场中的可持续发展作物种植项目。

The fifth grade students brought us a true story that happened in Africa. When Oumar in the story is suffering from hunger, how do other countries in the world treat food? Since ancient times, the Chinese nation has been treasuring the traditional virtues of “cultivation through diligence and virtue through frugality”. We hope to initiate an initiative throughout the school on being publicists and practitioners of food conservation. Proceeds from the food sale today will be devoted to the development of SGA SDG farm in the future.

人间有味是清欢，最让小小吃货们期待的美食摊位排起了长长的队伍。一份份热气腾腾的汤面、一串串外焦里嫩的烤翅、一口酥脆软糯的卷饼令人眼花缭乱，垂涎欲滴。“中国”摊位的饺子面点、“北美”摊位的炸鸡薯条、“东南亚的”奶茶咖喱、“欧洲”的意大利披萨……中式的细腻与西式的花样完美交融，校内香气四溢，各国美食应有尽有，足不出校尝遍全球美食。一场来自七大洲的味蕾盛宴，好不热闹！

The food stalls, which had been most expected by the students, saw a long queue today. The steaming noodle soup, the grilled chicken wings that were charred on the outside and tender on the inside, and the crispy glutinous burritos were all dazzling and mouth-watering. The dumplings and noodles at the "China" stall, the fried chicken and fries at the "North America" stall, the "Southeast Asian" milk tea curry, and the "European" Italian pizza... Chinese and Western styles blended perfectly, and the fragrance was overflowing on the campus. There was everything you need to eat, so you could taste the world's food without going out of school. A feast for taste from seven continents was so lively!

这不仅仅是一场美食盛宴，更是五年级学生倡导节约粮食、践行可持续发展精神的主题动员会。来到“我们可以终结全球饥饿吗”“我们如何创造均衡的一餐”“食物是如何从农场旅行到我们的餐盘上”三个主题摊位，五年级学生设置了现场宣讲、视频展示、游戏闯关等一系列趣味无穷的环节，呼吁全校师生从身边的点滴小事做起，倡导光盘行动，节约粮食的美德。同学们开动脑筋、积极参与、互动闯关、集齐印章换取书签及环保袋，从身边点滴做起，认真许下对联合国实现“零”饥饿的美好祝愿。

This was not just a food festival, but also a theme mobilization meeting for fifth grade students to advocate food conservation and practice the spirit of sustainable development. At the three themed booths "Can we end world hunger", "How can we create a balanced diet", and "What happens to food on its journey from farm to our plate", the fifth grade students set up a series of infinitely interesting events such as live lectures, video demonstrations, and games, calling on the teachers and students of the school to start with the little things around them to advocate the “clear your plate” campaign and the virtues of food saving. The students used their brains, actively participated in the events, and collected seals in exchange for bookmarks and eco-bags. Starting from little things around them, they earnestly made good wishes for the United Nations to achieve "zero" hunger.

丰富多彩的庆祝活动落下了帷幕，师生们意犹未尽。在联合国76周岁生日到来之际，湾区学校致力于让孩子们通过此次主题活动来秉承中国传统文化、理解世界文化多元、关注全球问题、培养国际情怀，从我做起、从身边的点滴小事做起，为联合国实现“零饥饿”的目标贡献自己的一份力量！

The colorful celebrations came to an end, and the teachers and students didn’t feel enough. On the occasion of the 76th birthday of the United Nations, SGA are committed to letting children inherit traditional Chinese culture, understand the diversity of world cultures, pay attention to global issues, cultivate international feelings, and start from the little things around them to make their own contribution to the UN’s goal of "zero hunger".
